King Cake

My mom and I were in the Mardi Gras spirit the other day and decided to try a new King Cake recipe that I found on the internet...it was fabulous!! For those of you who do not know, King Cakes are a Mardi Gras tradition and being from Baton Rouge, it was something we had every year. Being in Alb now, we kind of miss that, so we made our own! Here's a pic of B salivating over the cake!

By the way, the tradition of the King Cake is very interesting and has a very symbolic meaning. For instance, the oval shape of the cake represents the path that the wise men took to find baby Jesus and then to avoid King Herod. Google it sometime when you have a chance. It would be a neat tradition to start with your family whether you're in New Orleans or not!
